ICAP ORGANIZED CA PAKISTAN SEMINAR AND JOB FAIR

The Institute of Chartered Accountant of Pakistan (ICAP) organized CA PAKISTAN SEMINAR AND JOB FAIR 2014 at ICAP Houses (Karachi and Lahore) on August 30, 2014. The initiative has been taken to set up a unique networking opportunity that puts different employers, qualified CAs and trainee students under one roof and provided them an opportunity to listen to the Industry experts and clutch advice for entering into the corporate world.

The seminar facilitated them to stay up to date on the latest changes in the modern corporate world and maintain a dialogue with industry professionals. They seminar emphasized the key aspects of today’s workplace change and underline the essentials that with the increased competition, how recently qualified CAs will need to plan well and take extra care to secure their position in corporate arena. The seminar was a comprehensive guide for them and the speakers provided them the capacity to learn incisively. At the end of the seminar Young CAs inquired about the working milieu of Corporate World and pursued meaningful questions.

Renowned Companies like Unilever Pakistan, Shell Pakistan, Total Parco, PEL, MCB, Herbion Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, AJM Pharma, UBL Funds, Meezan Bank, Arif Habib Commodities, The Recruiters, A.F.Fergusons, KPMG and Deloitte Pakistan have participated in the job fair. The job fair was a source of information, contacts and interview experience for the young CAs as to meet the potential employers face to face provided them a multitude of benefits. Companies have collected their resumes; screening was also done on the spot by some of Organizations and increased confidence in their ability to interact with employers and communicate their accomplishments.

ICAP opens satellite office in Gujranwala

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) inaugurated its satellite office in Gujranwala on Wednesday August 20, 2014. The President ICAP Naeem Akhtar Sheikh inaugurated the newly developed office of CA Pakistan. The Institute decided to exploit this area of opportunity solely for the privilege of our valued members, students and the profession of Chartered Accountancy adding to the existing network of 7000 members and 20,000 registered students.

A deliberate effort was made for the placement of ICAP Gujranwala office at an entrepreneurial and an active locale, the Gujranwala Business Center opposite Chamber of Commerce. The aim behind the extension of legacy is to support the creation or upgrading of facilities that are physically accessible, well illuminated, is responsive to the changing programs of educational delivery.

But the significance of this occasion extends beyond the establishment and opening of the office. The aspirations of the ICAP Gujranwala office, for what this extension will achieve for its faculty and staff and above all for its students and members in the years ahead is perhaps the most important dimension.

The procession was held under the honorary attendance of key ICAP officials, regional industrialists, our council Members, Media and other native executives.

Chartered Accountancy is truly a rewarding career capable of changing one’s destiny. It is our firm belief that no student should be kept from realizing his/her dream of Chartered Accountancy because of financial limitations. In this regard, ICAP has envisioned a Scholarship Program, under which the student will be provided full financial support in order to achieve his/her dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant.

The Program is designed especially for the students from small districts, villages, and cities throughout Pakistan who otherwise cannot afford the cost of the CA program.

Conference on Public Financial Management (Postponed)

We regret to inform you that the “Conference on Public Financial Management” is being postponed due to the uncertainty stemming from the current political scenario. The conference is now tentatively planned in the first week of October 2014.

Computer Based Examinations

Assessment of Fundamental Competencies (AFC) examinations would be conducted in a computer based environment.

AFC-3 and AFC-4 would be entirely computer based in which only objective type questions would be examined. In case of AFC-1 and AFC-2, objective type questions would be tested on computer whereas essay type (descriptive) questions would be examined separately and will be held along with CAF examinations. However, with effect from Autumn 2015, all papers of AFC would be entirely computer based.

In order to facilitate the students in the AFC examinations, ICAP has developed a video to illustrate the salient features of the computer-based examination environment.

OPENING OF CA PAKISTAN OFFICE IN SUKKUR (SINDH)

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) opened a satellite office in District Sukkur for the convenience of local residents and the people of interior Sindh.  The new office, located in Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (Sukkur IBA) will facilitate CA aspirants, parents , members and educational institutions  and serve  to nurture young talent by providing information about the premier accounting qualification of Pakistan. The Institute shoulders serious responsibility towards encouraging and promoting students from all regions and diverse academic and financial backgrounds. The profession of Chartered Accountancy is open for all who have the courage to take on challenges, aim to seek in depth knowledge and have a desire for achieving excellence.

 ICAP presently has over 6000 members and 20,000 registered students. The initiative of expanding the infrastructure has been undertaken to increase outreach  for the benefit of both the membership and the students.
